Has technology created equity in referees and officials?
YES:
Technology has definitely helped equity in soccer because referees are able to make more educated decisions and correct decisions whereas before they were just relying on themselves. For example GLT (Goal Line Technology) has improved the calls made by the referee. In the FIFA World Cup 2014, a controversial shot was taken by the Frenchmen Karim Benzema which only just crept over the line. The referee wasn't in a place to see it but thanks to technology, it is created equity in the sport.
NO:
Referees should not be assisted by potentially faulty technology because that is not how soccer works. Referees are to make their own decisions whereas introducing technology into soccer can create inequity because certain decisions could be changed which initially the referee wouldn't normally make. Technology has created inequity between the referees and players.
